Two Victims Identified in the Providence Campus Shooting as Police Persist in Manhunt for Killer.

The pair of scholars who were killed in Saturday’s violent attack at Brown University had tributes paid to them on Monday – while an intensive search for their shooter continued following the release by Rhode Island officials of the sole person detained in connection in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was remembered as “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, as stated by the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which paid tribute to her at a ceremony on Sunday.

She served as second-in-command of Brown’s division of the College Republicans organization, according to the organization. The White House press secretary also shared sympathies on social media, remarking: “Words cannot express. Remembering her family and friends, particularly her mother and father.”

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov

The other person killed was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in his first year of studies at the Ivy League university, his family confirmed.

Umurzokov’s identity was verified by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. His ambitions were lofty of entering the field of neurosurgery and assisting patients,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a tribute.

The Shooting Incident

Nine other people were injured in the weekend shooting in the school of engineering of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Authorities said on Sunday evening that a 24-year-old male taken into custody in a police operation at a Hampton Inn about 17 miles from the campus earlier in the day was released from custody.
