This Swine Life: Hog Named 6-7 Granted Clemency by Miami Dade County Mayor.

Although not quite at the same level as sparing Thanksgiving turkeys, but the county's top official experienced a Donald Trump moment this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. She deserves this act of mercy. No offenses are on her docket,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with clear references to the extraordinary and sizable number of pardons issued since the beginning of a second term in office.

“Unless you count eating six or seven apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “I hope she experiences a lengthy and joyful existence away from worry.”

The event, either celebrating or rejecting the area's customary feast of eating roast pork during the holidays, was founded to mirror the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The animal, provided by a local firefighter, was given its name from the popular vernacular phrase of young people shouting “6-7” – deriving from a hip-hop line – often seemingly at random. The trend became so ubiquitous that a prominent word reference recently named “6-7” its top term for the year.

A Future Secured

This particular pig is now scheduled to spend its days at a farm sanctuary “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the event’s official press release.

“The annual pig pardon has become one of our favorite ways to begin the festive period,” said the event host, in a notably cheerful message.

“It represents the essence of Miami: vibrant, multicultural, and grounded in customs that unite the community. Every time, we are delighted to mark heritage and mercy in a way only Miami can.”

Attendees enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach croquetas and Cuban coffee as they marked the pig's pardon.
