The British player reached the third round in three out of four Grand Slams during the season.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from the last two tournaments of the year as a result of a medical condition she has been battling in recent days.

At 22 years old was scheduled to compete in Tokyo and Hong Kong but chose to travel back to rest and recuperate before starting next year's training.

Her upcoming training are set to feature trainer Francisco Roig, as the pair have decided to continue collaborating for the upcoming season.

She underwent blood pressure monitoring in her opening round against Ann Li in Wuhan and stopped playing when behind 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.

She needed once more medical attention at the Ningbo Open this week, where she fell in a three-set match to local wildcard Zhu Lin in the first round.

Raducanu was also moving with clear difficulty in the deciding set in the match with Zhu owing to a lower back issue that has troubled her during parts of the season.

Such performances followed a positive campaign, in which Raducanu rose into the top 30 globally for the first time since her previous ranking, ended with three successive defeats.

She held three match points prior to falling to American player Jessica Pegula in the third round in Beijing last month.

She secured twenty-eight matches in the current season and reached the semi-finals in Washington, but the highlight of her season was at March's Miami Open.

The British number one reached the quarter-finals of the WTA 1000 event, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro during the tournament before losing in three sets to the world number four Pegula.

She worked with Mark Petchey from Miami until Wimbledon, with Roig taking over in time for the US Open.

The first plan with Rafael Nadal's former coach was until the end of the season but they will keep working together, with planned training sessions for the end of the year.

Raducanu told that the trial session with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

The player was close to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at their first tournament together in Cincinnati in August.

The coach also accompanied Raducanu in New York, where she made the third stage before being beaten by Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
