Ex- Doctor Charged with Sexual Assault Charges Against 38 Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors report that a ex- physician has been charged with committing assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were patients.

The Grave Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.

A senior CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

These allegations follow what police called a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

List of Offences

The charging documents outline the forty-five charges include:

  • Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.

Authorities have asked anyone with concerns to get in touch with the investigating team.
