American entertainer Finn, who was seen in beloved programs like Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has died at the age of 60.

The comedic improv actor died at home in Los Angeles recently after undergoing treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, as reported by media reports.

"Pat considered no one a stranger - just potential friends he had yet to meet," his relatives said in a statement.

They continued that he had "lived his life fully - with zest and passion".

A Notable Television Career

Finn's first television role was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he played the titular character's brother.

He also had a recurring role on "Murphy Brown" in the latter half of the 1990s.

He played the part of a party host named Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a social organizer known to delegate tedious tasks to his guests.

During the late 1990s and early 2000s, he made guest appearances on numerous hit series, including:

  • "King of Queens"
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House

He was most recognized for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight series between 2011 and 2018.

His film credits are It's Complicated and "Santa Paws 2".

Beyond the Screen

Beyond his on-screen roles, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was involved with a comedy group of six known as Beer Shark Mice.

"Finn guided, supported, and advised many learners during his career and it would be difficult to find someone anywhere who has an unkind word to say about him," his loved ones expressed.

Paying homage, peer actor Richard Kind remarked there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, helping you be funnier and better. An excellent dad and person," he shared on social media.

Finn is survived by his partner Donna, his children, and his parents and siblings.
